"Anything that's human is mentionable,
and anything that is mentionable
can be more manageable.

When we can talk about our feelings,
they become less overwhelming,
less upsetting,
and less scary."

FAQs

I’m not sure I understand what psychotherapy is…can you explain?

Yes! Psychotherapy refers to a variety of evidence-based treatments that aim to help a person identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. This can take place one-on-one with a licensed mental health professional, and the standards of practice are regulated.

Can you diagnose, or prescribe medication?

I cannot diagnose or prescribe medication—however, we can discuss your symptoms and reflect on integrating your family doctor into your care plan to diagnose or expand the resources available to you.

How often should I go to therapy?

Each person’s therapeutic needs are unique and constantly changing. When starting, many choose to come in either weekly or bi-weekly. After distress tolerance is built and better habits are in place, a lot of people find it better to transition into monthly meetings. Some choose to then have occasional check-ins as needed moving forward for maintenance.

What if I have a complaint?

Psychotherapy is a regulated practice. That means if you have a concern or a complaint, you can report it with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
